Katie Mayers

Personal Trainer

Biography:

Master Trainer: Katie began her career in the East Bay working for the YMCA. Given the diverse membership, she realized she worked best with active older adults with chronic conditions, and clients pre/post rehab. Her clients included many who required wheelchairs, had Parkinson’s or MS, were sight or hearing impaired, or had neurological challenges.

Katie has also worked as an Exercise Specialist on several research studies, through Kaiser “What is the impact of Lifestyle choices on the prognosis of  Breast Cancer?”, and “What is the Impact of Yoga Nidra and Cardiovascular activity on Menopausal Symptoms?”.  More recently, Katie worked as the Exercise Specialist for Dr. Dean Ornish, at The Preventative Medicine Research Institute on a lifestyle study on Reversing Alzheimer’s.

The newest area of her professional development has been teaching and training in the aquatic environment, which is fantastic for arthritis, joints post or pre replacement surgery, or if balance is compromised.  Katie’s approach is wholistic, warm, personable, and compassionate. She is focused on helping her clients work towards a better quality of life through improved movement and function.
